Updates

Kochani!

This Friday we resume our dance practice routine. Starting then, we will have practices more often so hopefully everyone has been doing their cardio workouts lately.... I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Polish Home at 8:30.

As you remember, PKM hosted Polish Home Happy Hour on March 7. I am attaching a photo from that momentous event. Once again, thanks to all that participated!

Another mentionalble is the success PKM achieved at the Annual NYC Polish Students Dance. Our own Andrzej Mieckowski and Miss PKM, Magda Nogalska won 1st place in the evening's dance competition - congratulations to you both!

At Friday's practice we will also schedule dance practices for Summer 2008. Please bring your calendars so we can pick the most available dates.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday,
Diane

April Updates

Witajcie!

I hope that all of you had a happy Easter, and that you did not forget to celebrate the other, very important Polish holiday, Lany Poniedzialek (aka - Smingus Dingus Day). My kids certainly enjoyed waking me with a luke warm glass of water on my feet that Monday....!

On March 7, PKM hosted a Happy Hour at Polish Home. We chose to further the integration between the attending organizations by organizing a virtual Bowling Tournament. It seems many took very quickly to this new technology and some even excelled at it. Congratulations to Team D&P, plus special mention goes to the Hot Chickies! Once again, there was much rejoicing!

Today, April 2, is the anniversary of death of Pope John Paul II. The mass at St. Adalberts will be held at 7PM. All are welcome to attend. We will organize a PKM delegation. If you can come in costume, that will be appreciated - let me know.

This Friday, April 4, we will have dance practice. We have a number of performances coming up soon and need to start getting ready.

The PKM Calendar has been updated so please check the new dates, events. Most important, we will be performing in Baltimore on Saturday, May 31 - that is NOT Memorial Day weekend.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday,
Diane

March Updates

Hello Again,

Just when you thought it was safe to check your email, another PKM letter!

Although we have been quiet, it does not mean we have not been busy. To recap our activities from this year, we had a great Ski Trip the Poconos last weekend in January. See attached photo.

Another great event, also well attended, was the Polish Police Ball on February 9. As usual, PKM'ers were dressed well and did well on the dance floor as well. As every year, we enjoyed taking the usual photo shoot in the lobby. See attached photos.

We have also been busy preparing for upcoming events. This Friday, PKM will be hosting a Happy Hour at Polish Home. All member organizations have been invited. We would also like to invite current, past and "future" members to join us. In order to facilitate jovial integration, we will hold a Bowling Tournament in the Club Room. Please come and enjoy tasty refreshments as well as adult beverages.

Continuing our tradition of building future membership, we want to congradulate Liana and her husband Jonathan on the birth of their daugher, Bobbi Olivia. I saw a photo and the baby looks adorable! We wish you all the best!

Looking ahead, I have updated the PKM Calendar to include our upcoming activites, dance practices up to May. On April 11 PKM will be hosting 2-3 Fullbright Scholars. As last year, we will pick a restaurant, most likely in center city, and have dinner with them. All are welcome to join us!

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday,

Diane

February Updates

Greetings,

At our last practice we managed to teach all attendees at least 3 figure dances. It certainly helped that we had some alumni there to help us! Thanks Jack and Mary! Those lessons really helped those of us that attended Paczkowy Ball at Kathy and Anthony's dance last Saturday. As usual, the food was great and the music outstanding! See photo below.

Before that, many of us hit the slopes at Jack Frost. The weekend of January 25 - 27 proved a good pick this year as the skiing conditions were excellent! So was our skiing.... for those that actually made it to the slopes. It seems a few ladies chose to enjoy the fine weather in a shopping capacity (at the Crossings Outlets). The rest of us certainly had plenty of time to practice our swooshes and jumps at the mountain.

This weekend the festivities continue as many of us will be attending the Polish Police Banquet on Saturday. Again, we will have an opportunity to practice those figure dances! Should be fun.

At this Friday's rehearsal we will return to practicing our folk dances. We will also discuss preparing a program for the upcoming Happy Hour at Polish Home which PKM will be hosting on March 7. Please come on time.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday,
Diane

January Updates

Kochani,

Happy New Year! I suspect all the celebrating is over by now and I wish everyone a happy and healthy 2008.

Looking back at 2007, PKM had a very busy and fun year with many signficant performances and events. We welcomed new members into the group (Michal, Krzysiu), celebrated a wedding (Dave and Jack) and had new, tiny additions to our families. With that thought I want to congratulate Asia and Lukie on the birth of their daughter, Maya. She was born on a Friday (a dance practice day...), December 21. We wish her parents much joy and happiness with her.

Many of us celebrated the New Year at the ball organized by the St. Adalbert's Polish School. The food was tasty and plentiful, the music lively and company the best! See attachd photo.

Now we will focus on the upcoming agenda. We will have dance practice this Friday. It will be the much awaited Bialy Mazur evening. Alumni, I hope many of you will turn out to bring back this terrific dance. Last time I think too much beer was consumed before we started the dancing. This time, Steve will only serve those that can remember more than 8 counts of the dance - just kidding.

January is also the annual PKM Membership Dues drive month. This year, in order to reward prompt payment, all payees will receive a free PKM car magnet, very cool. The dues are as follows:
Individual - $10 1 free PKM car magnet
Family - $15 2 free PKM car magnets

Also later in January I will be sending the package to the orphanage in Poland. If you have not done so already and would like to contribute, please bring your items to the next practice. Many thanks.

Our calendar is filling up. Please note the addition of the Paczkowy Ball at Kathy and Anthony's parish on February 2. That is always a good time.

Still in January, is our 4th Annual PKM Ski Trip (Jan 25 - 27).

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday,
Diane

Wigilia

Hello,
Our Wigilia celebration this year was tremendous! Many people worked very hard to make it a great success. Michal and Krzysiu worked tirelessly to hang all those lights and set up the projector and sound system. Dorothy and Stephen coordinated all the food support and all of you brought very delicious foods to share. Thanks to all! - see photo. Also many thanks to everyone that brought gifts for the orphanage - you are very generous. If you did not have a chance to bring something, I will be sending the package in late January so there is still time.

As everyone arrived, we played the video from the Kimmel Center performance on a wall size screen. Shortly after that we shared the oplatek and sat down to enjoy all the food. The variety, quantity and tastiness of everything was amazing!

After everyone was full, I distributed the token gift to all the Kimmel Center performers - a PKM car magnet (see attached photo). Everyone seemed to be pleased. Since there are more available, you can purchase one for $3 or get it free with PKM membership - we will be collecting dues next month for 2008!

Looking forward to everyone in the New Year!

Diane

December Updates

Kochani,
As you prepare those delicious foods for Saturday's Wigilia, I wanted to share some things with you.

Earlier this month our own Dave Kietrys tied the knot with Jack. We wish them much joy and happiness together, and of course, Sto Lat!

Now, more about the Wigilia. Please remember to bring a gift for a child in the orphanage. Please let me know what food you are bringing so we avoid duplicates and maximize tastiness. Do not forget to bring money if you wish to purchase New Year's Eve tix from Ela.

Since this will be our first get together since the Kimmel performance, please bring your parking receipts so we can reimburse you for that expnse. Also, to thank all the participants, I took the liberty of getting a small gift for everyone. I hope you like it - I think you will love it! Remember that we will be showing the vidoe from the performance at 4PM. Bring any photos you have from that event for sharing.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Wigilia,

Diane
